Campaign Letter
Elect Micah Zucker
Business Agent
Dear Local One Members,
My name is Micah Zucker and I am a proud Local One stagehand running to serve the union as a Theatre Business Manager. I have years of experience working under new contracts. I earned my union card at Jazz at Lincoln Center before working on Broadway, at performing arts centers, and on many industrials.
I was instrumental in unionizing the crew at Little Island. I opened The Shed at Hudson Yards as a stagehand before becoming the head of sound. I later opened The Perelman Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center complex as the head of sound.
As a Local One business manager, I want to:
Spend more time in venues meeting with union members and ensuring management is not able to weaken our contracts through precedent.
Expand our jurisdiction through unionizing more venues, shops and industrials.
Strengthen what the union can offer its members.
Be an available resource for members at large so they have a voice and feel heard by the executive board.
I believe it’s important for the average member to have regular opportunities to talk to the business agents for more than a handshake. I plan on having recurring office time for any member to come chat about their questions or issues. I will prioritize visiting each venue frequently to better understand what is actually happening on the ground and the challenges facing our members.
I have spent my career at the forefront of technology. While it’s important for the union to modernize, some venues attempt to cut jobs to unsafe levels because of these new systems. As a business manager, I will bring my experience with technology to advance our goals in negotiations and in the implementation of contracts.
My goal is to represent the needs of our members with passion and urgency. I will strive to ensure every member feels, and is, heard and represented – we are all so much more than just filling a slot on a call sheet.
On May 11th, I would be honored to have your vote for Theatre Business Manager.
